Tirthankar Mukharjee, Nadia : BSF under South Bengal Frontier apprehended two Bangladeshi girls while trying to cross the International boundary illegally in the border area of Nadia district.
On 21 November, 2021, on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Jhorpada, 08 Battalion BSF were alerted. At around 0300 hrs troops apprehended two women while crossing International Boundary, where as tout managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the thick bushes and darkness.
Both the apprehended girls are real sisters and residents of Satkhira district of Bangladesh, whose names are Shabana Khatoon (fictitious name), age 20 years and Sadia Khatoon (fictitious name), age 19 years.
On investigation, both the sisters revealed that a month ago they met a person named Sippan resident of Narial district and he promised them good employment in India. A month ago they came with Sippan to Mumbai, India and in Govandi area, Sippan pushed Shabana Khatoon into prostitution and wanted to push her sister Saadia Khatoon too.
They further revealed that both the sisters escaped from there with the help of a Bangladeshi woman named Pooja. Pooja is also trapped in the quagmire of prostitution there. They further stated that they had also given Rs 14,000/- to an Indian tout namely Puran for crossing International Boundary.
Both the apprehended girls have been handed over to Police Station Dhantala for further legal proceedings.
The South Bengal Frontier issued a statement saying that day-to-day human traffickers on the International Boundary of the innocent girls with the lure of good jobs and push them into a quagmire like prostitution, from which it is impossible to get out. BSF troops are always ready in saving the future of girls keeping in mind the safety as well as humanity.
