Crossing the border inadvertently while cutting grass, BSF handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh as a goodwill gesture


Tirthankar Mukharjee,Kolkata : On Wednesday BSF apprehended a Bangladeshi national for violating the international border in the border area of ​​district- Nadia. Apprehended person is a resident of Benipuri village in Bangladesh, whose name is Mahendi Hasan, S/o- Mosiyar Hasan.

BSF stated in a statement that on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at about 1000 hrs, border deployed troops of Border Out Post Noonaganj of 08 Battalion BSF apprehended a person while he was entering into Indian territory. Further he was brought to Border Out Post Noonaganj, where on investigation, Mahendi Hassan told that he had accidentally entered inside the India while cutting grass.

In another incident, on the basis of information from the intelligence branch, troops of Border Out Post Masingpur, 99 Battalion BSF apprehended one Bangladeshi woman . On interrogating, apprehended woman told that her name is Maryam Bibi and she is a resident of Kolabari village in Faridpur district of Bangladesh. She had come to India eight months ago for her treatment. She further told that after getting treatment in Surat, she was going back to Bangladesh with the help of an unknown Indian tout.

Apprehended woman was handed over to PS Bagdah for further action. On the other hand, apprehended person who has crossed border inadvertently, was handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh on humanitarian grounds.

Shri B Madhusudan Rao, Commanding Officer of 08 Batallion BSF stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to prevent infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border. But sometimes some Bangladeshi citizens cross the border while grazing cattle or cutting grass. In view of the less gravity of their crime, they are being handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh due to humanitarian grounds and mutual goodwill between the border security forces of both the countries.
