BSF seized 08 gold biscuits worth Rs 49 lakh at the Indo–Bangladesh Border


Tirthankar Mukharjee,Murshidabad : The troops of Kharka Bahadur, a Border Out Post of 86 Battalion of South Bengal Frontier BSF, succeeded in seized 08 gold biscuits worth Rs 49 lakhs. Smugglers were trying to bring these gold biscuits from Bangladesh to India.

On 13 May, 2022 at around 0825 am, the troops of 86 Battalion Border Out Post Kharka Bahadur got information that some smugglers are trying to carry out Gold smuggling from Bangladesh to India. As soon as the information was received, the troops of the Border Out Post Kharka Bahadur started laying ambush at various places in the area of ​​their responsibility. In meantime, the troops saw some suspecious movement across the fence from Bangladesh side.

The jawans saw some smugglers running away from Bangladesh by throwing a bundle of salmon over the fence, the troops chased them but the smugglers escaped taking advantage of the dense bushes. After a thorough search of the area, 08 Gold biscuits were recovered in a bundle. The estimated price of these biscuits in the Indian market is Rs 49,17,355/-.

All the seized gold biscuits have been handed over to Karimpur Customs Office for further legal action.

Surendra Kumar, Commandant, 86 Battalion, BSF expressed happiness over the alertness of its jawans and stated that their jawans are fully determined and committed to prevent border crimes and smuggling. Such a huge seizure was the result of our vigilant troops. Simultaneously, he stated that this seizure will boost the morale of our troops.
