BSF RESCUED BIRDS FROM THE CLUTCHES OF SMUGGLERS ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

Tirthankar Mukharjee, North 24 Pargana : On 24/25 November, 2021, alert troops of South Bengal Frontier have rescued 12 wild birds from the clutches of smugglers in different incidents in the Border area.  Smugglers were trying to smuggle all these birds illegally across the International Border from Bangladesh to India.

In the first incident, on 24th November, 2021, on receipt of a reliable information, At about 1205 hrs alert troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion noticed the movement of a miscreant  near the Border who was trying to come to India from Bangladesh with a bag. The troops challenged the man and asked him to stop. The man fled towards Bangladesh in fear of being apprehended, after which the Border Security Force troops searched the area and recovered a bag which containing 08 wild birds (Pigeons).

In another incident, on 25th November, 2021, at about 0235 hrs, on the basis of reliable information, troops of Border Out Post Hridaypur, 82 Battalion rescued four rare species of birds from the clutches of smugglers. Seeing the troops, smugglers fled from the spot by taking advantage of the dense darkness and bushes. The smugglers were bringing particular species of birds from Bangladesh to India.

The rare birds rescued from the clutches of smugglers have been handed over to the forest department/concerned customs department.

The South Bengal Frontier Public Relations Officer stated that the BSF is taking strict measures to stop the smuggling of rare species of birds on the Border. He further stated in clear words that we will not allow any kind of smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
