BSF APPREHENDED WANTED BANGLADESHI CRIMINAL WHO WAS TRYING TO ESCAPE FROM TAMILNADU POLICE

Tirthankar Mukharjee, Kolkata : On 26 August 2021, Border Security Force under South Bengal Frontier apprehended a wanted Bangladeshi criminal while crossing the Border illegally, who was trying to cross the International Boundary from the area of Border Out Post Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion, North 24 Parganas District.

On 26 August, 2021 acting on the information received by the Intelligence Department of the Border Security Force, the Company Commander of the Border Out Post Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion alerted his troops, as a result, the area was closely monitored by the jawans.

Around 1745 hrs, the jawans on duty noticed the movement of a suspicious person near the fence who was trying to illegally cross the International Boundary to Bangladesh. When challenged by BSF troops, he tried to run back into Indian territory but alert BSF troops chased him and soon took him into custody. The apprehended person has been identified as Jahangir Biswas, age- 27 years, Village- Nolata, Thana – Kaliganj, District- Satkhira (Bangladesh).

During preliminary questioning, the apprehended criminal revealed that he is a Bangladeshi citizen who had come to India from Bangladesh for the first time in the year 2006 in search of employment, and worked as a laborer near Bharat Gas Plant at Perunduri, Distt.

Erode (Tamil Nadu). He further revealed that in the year 2020 due to non-availability of work because of lock down, he illegally crossed the International Boundary and went back to Bangladesh but after two months once again crossed the International Boundary in August 2020, came to India and reached Hasanabad, District North 24 Pargana (West Bengal). Aagain went to Tamil Nadu with Abdul Kalim R/o- Hasnabad District North 24 Pargana (west Bengal). He (Jahangir Biswas) also revealed that his relative has three shops near Bharat Gas Plant located near Perunduri (Tamil Nadu) in which they sells Ganja and Phensedyl.

Along with this, he also revealed that some Bangladeshi people working with him in Tamil Nadu were planning to steal gold from the temple and sell it, which was reported to the police and the police has also arrested some Bangladeshi citizens but he had escaped from there. He was trying to go back to Bangladesh by illegally cross the International Boundary but in the meantime, the Border Security Force troops apprehended him.

The detained Bangladeshi intruder has been handed over to Police Station Basirhat for further legal proceedings.

Jawahar Singh Negi, Commanding Officer, 153 Battalion has expressed happiness over the achievement of his troops as a result of which 153 Battalion has apprehended 01 Bangladeshi Intruder. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his troops on duty. He revealed that the Intelligence Department is continuously collecting information whether the Bangladeshi intruder was in the process of going to Bangladesh after committing some heinous crime.
