Tirthankar Mukharjee,Kolkata : On February 14, 2022, theu Border Security Force troops under the South Bengal Frontier, proving their commitment to duty, once again thwarted the plans of smugglers apprehended 02 smugglers and seized 1139 Phensedyl bottles in different incidents from their area. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl is Rs 2,12,594/-. Smugglers were trying to smuggle all these Phensedyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.

On February 14, 2022, on the basis of specific information, the troops of BSF Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata were alerted. Around 1300 hrs, the jawans noticed a suspicious Silver colored Estilo LXI Maruti car (Regd. WB 24 K 8034) which was going from Bithari Bazar towards Tarali village (Border village).

When the troops stopped and searched the car, 60 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from inside the dashboard of the car. The troops seized Phensedyl along with the car and both the smugglers were also taken into custody for further questioning.

The identity of the apprehended smugglers are Mostakin Sheikh, age – 19 years, village + post office – Nabtakati, PS – Swaroopnagar, District – North 24 Parganas, and Shaheen Sardar, age – 21 years, village – Tarali, PO – Hakimpur, PS – Swaroop Nagar , District – North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

During interrogation, the apprehended smugglers Mostakin Sheikh and Shaheen Sardar revealed that they have been doing smuggling work for the last few days. This morning (14 February) they had met Sahid Sardar and Mohd Misri near the school in Bithari Bazar.

They had hidden Phensedyl in this car. Which was to be handed over to Firoz Sardar in Tarali village by crossing the BSF duty line. For this smuggling he was to get Rs.500/-. But as soon as he reached near the duty line of BSF, BSF apprehended both of them with Phensedyl during checking.

In other incidents, South Bengal Frontier has seized 1079 Phensedyl bottles from the area of ​​their responsibility, thwarting the attempts of smugglers.
The apprehended smugglers and the seized Phensedyl bottles have been handed over to the concerned Customs Office/Police Station for further legal action.

Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the jawans, in which they thwarted the smuggling attempts, and apprehended 02 smugglers red handed and seized 1139 bottles of Phensedyl. He added that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hidden from the eyes of the troops. He also stated that BSF also has an excellent team to give accurate information related to smuggling.
