South Bengal Frontier, Border Security Force troops have broken the backbone of smugglers for the last few months by thwarting their smuggling attempts. BSF troops are doing effective duty in highly sensitive areas from the point of view of smuggling and the plans of smugglers are being vandalized continuously.
In this sequence, on 04 September 2021, 01 smuggler was apprehended with 24 Gold biscuits. The seized gold biscuits, weighing 2.599 kg and estimated to cost Rs 1,27,11,968/- were being smuggled into India from Bangladesh through Border Out Post Amudia area of North 24 Parganas district.
On September 04, 2021, acting on the information of the Intelligence Department of the Border Security Force, the jawans of the Border Out Post Amudia 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, laid ambush near the BSF domination line. Around 1743, the jawans saw a suspicious motorcycle driven by a youth coming from the side of Amudia village who was going towards Balti Bazar.
On the basis of the information received, when the jawans wanted to stop it and search, the young man suddenly tried to run away but the alert troops apprehended the young man without giving him any chance. When BSF troops searched him, 24 Gold biscuits were recovered from the filter of the motorcycle.
The jawans soon seized the Gold biscuits and took the smuggler into custody for questioning. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Ajmal Sana, age – 27 years, Village – Tarali (Dakshin Para) + Post Office – Nityanandkati, Police Station – Swaroopnagar, District – North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
During interrogation, the apprehended smuggler Ajmal Sana revealed that he is an Indian national and has been involved in smuggling activities for the last few days. Today evening (September 04) at 1700 hrs a Bangladeshi smuggler Shaidul Molla came to his house situated on the bank of Sonai river(International Boundary) and gave him 24 Gold biscuits and told that he has to give it to Khaliq Ghazi, resident of
Bashir Haat in Balti Bazar after crossing the BSF domination line, for which he would have got 500 rupees. He further revealed that to hide all these biscuits from the eyes of the BSF, he concealed all the biscuits in the filter of the motorcycle, but while crossing the duty line of the Border Security Force, the alert troops of the Border Security Force apprehended him with a Gold biscuits.
Apprehended smugglers and seized Gold biscuits have been handed over to Customs Office Tentuliya for further legal proceedings.
Narayan Chand, Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievement of his troops, which resulted in the apprehension of 01 smuggler and seized 24 Gold biscuits, thwarting the smuggling attempts. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can concealed from the eyes of his troops. He also added that he also has a great team of Intelligence Department.
