BSF apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler with Phensedyl on Indo-Bangladesh Border


Tirthankar Mukharjee : On July 08, 2022, the troops of 158 Battalion Border Out Post Angrail under South Bengal Frontier, acting on strong information, apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler at around 2330 hrs by laying a special ambush near the International Boundary. On thorough search of the apprehended smuggler by BSF troops, 50 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from inside his bag.

The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Mohd Ashardul Islam, 36 years old, Village – Chhote Asra, PS- Benapole, District – Jashore (Bangladesh). The Bangladeshi smuggler revealed that he works as a van driver in Benapole (Bangladesh) port but is involved in smuggling activities for the last few days in the greed of more money and since last few days he is regularly working with Bangladeshi smuggler as a career.

He further revealed that this morning he illegally crossed the IB and came to Angrail (India). But when he was moving towards Ichhamati River (International Boundary) with all these Phensedyl, BSF apprehended him with Phensedyl bag at duty line.

Smuggler and seized Phensedyl have been handed over to Gaighata Police Station for further legal action.

Harendra Singh Tomar, Commanding Officer, 158 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans, in which the jawans apprehended 01 Bangladeshi smuggler with 50 bottles of Phensedyl. The officer stated that he will not allow any kind of smuggling in his area of responsibility.
