BSF apprehended 05 Bangladeshi and 01 Indian national while crossing the border illegally on the International Border


Tirthankar Mukharjee, Kolkata : On 12 July, 2021, Border Security Force troops under South Bengal Frontier apprehended 05 Bangladeshi nationals (including one woman) and 01 Indian national while crossing the border illegally at the International Border. Out of the apprehended persons, 03 Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian national were trying to come to India from Bangladesh. At the same time 02 Bangladeshi nationals were also apprehended while crossing International Border from Bangladesh to India.

On July 12, 2021, Border Out Post Panitar, 153 Battalion, Sector Kolkata alerted the entire patrolling party as soon as they received Intelligence Input. The troops posted on the border noticed that 04-05 suspected persons were trying to cross the International Boundary illegally from the Bangladesh side. Out of which 4 persons were caught by BSF troops. Identification of the apprehended persons
i) Mohd. Deepan Sanai (Age- 18 Years), S/o- Mohd. Samsoor Sanai, Village- Hari Nagar, Post- Armadanga, PS- Koira, District -Khulna, Bangladesh.
ii) Habinur Rahman, (Age- 32 years), S/o Aftaf Rahman, Village- Hari Nagar, Post-Armadanga, PS-Koira, Distt-Khulna, Bangladesh.

iii) Mohammad Abu Shaheen Sardar, (Age- 24 years), S/o– Azizul Sardar, Village – Chillidanga, Post– Paithili, PS-Ashasoni, District Satkhira, Bangladesh.
iv) Arinder Mandal, (age 35 years), S/o– Debabrata Mandal, Village – Deha, PS – Memari, District – Bardhaman, West Bengal.

During preliminary questioning, Habibur Rahman revealed that he had illegally crossed the border from Bangladesh to India with the help of a Bangladeshi broker Uttam Mandal (Baratala, Bhomra) in search of work in India. He revealed that he had given 29 thousand Bangladeshi Taka to a Bangladeshi broker for crossing the International border.

Then he moved from there to Hyderabad where his brother Dipen Sanai was already working as a laborer. A few days back he had gone to Bangladesh to meet the family. Today, after meeting his family, he was again trying to go from Bangladesh to India when the Border Security Force personnel caught him on the way.

During initial interrogation, Mohammad Abu Saheen Sardar revealed that he had come to India in search of work 2 years back and settled in village Haroya, District North 24 Parganas. He told that he used to work as a mason there. 5 months ago he went to Bangladesh to meet his family and today he was coming back.

During preliminary interrogation, Arindan Mandal told that he is an Indian citizen. He told that he had crossed the border illegally from India to Bangladesh, 1 month ago. He told that he had gone to Bangladesh for the funeral of his maternal grandmother. Where he was staying at his maternal uncle’s house (Tinukathi, PS- Koira, District- Khulna, Bangladesh). Today he was coming back to India from Bangladesh that the Border Security Force troops caught him.

In another incident, On 11 July, 2021 at around 1810 hrs, two Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by the troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur and Amudia, 112 Battalion posted in the border area of ​​North 24 Parganas district while crossing the International Border. Identity of the apprehended persons are
I) Momina Khatoon, Village- Shankar Kathi, Post- Gobindpur, District- Shatkhira (Bangladesh).
ii) Manowar Hussain, Village- Magura, Post Office + District- Shatkhira (Bangladesh).

On interrogation, Manovar Hussain revealed that he had come to India four months ago with the help of a Bangladeshi broker Anish Hussain for searching of work by illegally crossing the international border. After coming to India he worked in Deb hotel,Bashirhat. Today he was going back to Bangladesh but caught by BSF. During interrogation another apprehended Bangladeshi woman Momina Khatoon, revealed that a year ago she illegally crossed the International Boundary and entered India. After coming to India, she went to meet her daughter living in Dhanbad (Jharkhand) and was living there. Today (July 11) when she was going back to Bangladesh, she was caught by the BSF near the International Border.

All 06 apprehended persons have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal action.

In a statement issued in South Bengal Frontier, BSF stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to prevent infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh Border, due to which infiltrators and touts are facing difficulties in committing such acts. And some of them are also being caught, who are also being punished according to the law.
