Tirthankar Mukharjee, North 24 Parganas : On 8 August 2021, on the inputs of the Intelligence Branch, BSF troops of 112 Battalion apprehended 04 Indian nationals with contraband items in two separate incidents while conducting a three hours long search operation from 1200 hrs to 1500 hrs.
In the first incident, the BSF troops saw a family (a man along with his wife and child) coming on a motorcycle towards the International Boundary. BSF troops stopped them for checking purpose. While searching, troops recovered 214 face creams from their possession which they had hidden in their clothes. Thereafter, troops apprehended them and brought to Border Out Post Kalanchi,112 Batallion for interrogation. They were identified as 1) Sanju Burman, age- 31 years, S/o- Vishwanath Burman, Village – Shobhit Pur, PO– Purandarpur, PS- Gaighata 2) Visakha Burman Nandini, age- 27 years, W/o– Sanju Varman 3) Sumir Burman, age 5 years, S/o- Sanju Burman.
During initial interrogation, Sanju Burman told that he works in a brick kiln and does petty smuggling work to earn his living. He told that today Bablu (Village- Shobhit Pur, Post Office – Purandarpur, PS- Gaighata, District- North 24 Parganas) gave him this item which was to be taken to village Garjala and further to a Bangladeshi smuggler named Johni. But as soon as they were carrying the goods, the Border Security Force troops caught them on the way.
In another incident, troops of 112 Battalion caught an Indian national with an auto rickshaw carrying 795 B-Tex Cream and 70 Ringworm Cream which he was trying to cross the border from the area of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata. The apprehended person has been identified as Ishadul Sardar, S/o- Jabbar Sardar, Village- Swaroopada, Post Office- Hakimpur, PS- Swaroop Nagar.
During interrogation, the person revealed that he does petty smuggling for his survival. He revealed that today he had bought these contraband items from the shop of a person named Kali Nath which is in Bithari market and further these goods were to be given to Toijul Ghazi, S/o Mukhtiar Ghazi, Village-Hakimpur, Thana Swaroop Nagar, District -North 24 Parganas, for which he was to get Rs. 600 only .He revealed that Toizul Ghazi was to send these contraband items to Bangladesh.
The apprehended persons have been handed over to the concerned Custom Office/Police Station along with the contraband items.
Narayan Chand, Commanding Officer of 112 Battalion, rejoiced over the achievements of his troops, as a result of which 04 Indian nationals were apprehended by his troops. He dtated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his troops on duty.
