Tirthankar Mukharjee, Kolkata : On 25 August, 2021, Border Security Force under South Bengal Frontier apprehended an Indian Rickshaw driver with 18 kg Hilsa fish while he was trying to cross BSF duty line the general responsibility area of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion, North 24 Parganas.
On 25 August, 2021 at around 1900 hrs, on the basis of BSF Intelligence Branch Input, the troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata were doing routine duty at the border. On the basis of intelligence, they observed a suspected E–Rickshaw (Toto) driver who was approaching to International Boundary.
Border Security Force troops stopped him and started checking him. During checking, recovered 18 pieces of Hilsa fish whose total weight was 18 kg. At the same time, the BSF party apprehended the rickshaw driver with the seized items.
The apprehended person has been identified as Imam Hussain Dhalai, 20 years old, S/o Hafinur dhalai, Village- Tarali Majherpara, Post Office -Hakimpur, Thana -Swaroop Nagar, District- North 24 Parganas.
During preliminary Questioning, the apprehended person revealed that he is an Indian national and does petty smuggling work for his survival. He revealed that today on 25 August 2021, he bought these fish from his own villager Madhav pal and after crossing Hakimpur checkpost, had to handed over him (Madhav pal ). He further revealed that by doing this he had a profit of ₹ 1000/-. But the Border Security Force apprehended him on the way.
The apprehended person has been handed over to the Customs Office Tantulia along with the seized items for further legal action.
Narayan Chand, Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion rejoiced at the achievements of his troops, as a result of which 112 Batttalion apprehended 01 Indian national with 23 kg of Hilsa fish and a rickshaw (Toto). He stated that this could be possible only because of the alertness displayed by his troops on duty.
