Tirthankar Mukharjee, Kolkata : BSF troops under the South Bengal Frontier on Monday night apprehended a Bangladeshi National from the bordering area of North 24 Parganas district in an attempt to cross from India to Bangladesh illegally.
A statement released by BSF stated that on July 05, 2021, based on the information of the Intelligence Branch of BSF, border deployed troops of Border Out Post, Jeetpur of 99 Battalion, BSF was alerted. At about 2230, troops saw some suspicious movement in a jute field near the border road.
As BSF troops moved towards that, a person started fleeing towards the village Jeetpur, after which BSF troops chased and apprehnded him. Apprehended person was identified as Ujjwal Ghazi, Age 34 years, S/o late Jalil Ghazi, village- Devan Pada, PS – Goalanda, district – Rajbari, Bangladesh. He was brought to the Border Out Post Ranghat for further investigation.
50 to 60 Bangladeshi nationals are working in Ernakulam, all came to India illegally
During questioning, Ujjwal Ghazi revealed that he came to India from Hilli Border a year ago and worked as a laborer at a construction site in Bengali Patti in Ernakulam city of Kerala.
He also said that 50 to 60 more Bangladeshis live in Ernakulam illegally and work as laborers and masons. When asked about tout, Ujjwal revealed that he does not know the name of tout. But his colleague’s name is Rafiuddin Biswas. He further revelead that he has given Rs. 10,000 / – to tout to cross Border.
Apprehended person had been handed over to Police Station Baghdad for further legal action.
Shri Ravi Kant, Commanding Officer of 99 Battalion BSF informed that BSF is taking strict steps to prevent infiltration on India-Bangladesh Border. Due to which intruders and touts are facing difficulties and some of them are being caught and they are also being punished according to the law.
