17th General Election to Be Held in 7 Phases From April 11 to May 19; Counting on May 23

Tirthankar Mukharjee, New Delhi : The 2019 Lok Sabha election will be carried out in seven phases. 1st phase polling to be held on 11th April, 2nd phase on 18th April, 3rd phase on 23rd April, 4th phase polling to be held on 29th April, 5th phase polling on 6th May, 6th phase polling on 12th May and 7th phase 12th May.

The date of counting will be May 23, 2019.

Around 17.4 lakh VVPATs will be used for conducting Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The total electorate in this Lok Sabha elections will be 900 million, of which 15 million voters are in the 18-19 age group.

CEC also announced the election helpline number 1950 to check names and election-related information.

Model Code of Conduct comes into effect today itself, as per Cheif Election Commissioner Sunil Arora. Poll code violations can now be reported to the ECI through an app, cVIGIL.
